Citizen Day 2018

The Project

L'Oréal Canada were hosting their annual Citizen Day event in Montréal. They wanted coverage of their outdoors event where they performed site maintenance in a forested area on Montréal island. 

The Concept

Citizen Day is an event where all the employees of L'Oréal are encouraged to step out of their comfort zone and are offered a range of activities to do so.

We knew that we really wanted to emphasize team-building and employee engagement in the video. We interviewed Frank Kollmar, CEO of L'Oréal Canada, and the employees to get some strong soundbites about the power of the event. For the edit, we focussed on employees gaining exposure to staff members that they usually don't encounter. This was a reoccurring theme across the interviews.

Visually, we used a lot of medium shots with more than one person on screen. This helped to build a narrative of friendship and cooperation. Close-ups were reserved for emotional reactions to create a positive and engaging video.
